Where meaningful change can take place
Counselling
It isn’t always easy to ask for help when we need it and it is a brave thing to do to admit to ourselves that something needs to change. I imagine you are here because you want help with something in your life. There are so many different situations that cause us to feel pain and suffer: anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, loneliness, bereavement, lack of purpose and so on.. Counselling can provide support and guide us to living a happier, fulfilling life.
Counselling is not about just listening and it is also not about me telling you what to do.
I will listen to your story, help you express feelings and thoughts and make sense of them; assist you in finding common themes and meanings behind the words, help you clarify and express what you truly want from your life. I will also aid you to recognise unhelpful patterns and obstacles that get in the way of what you want for yourself and release them, if needed, and ultimately change your circumstances. It will be you that will make the choices and make all that happen. My role is to support and guide you to your innate resilience, hope and capacity for change.
Everyone is welcome. I work with individuals 18 years and older and offer sessions both in person from my New Town practice at the centre of Edinburgh as well as online.
About Me
My name is Vagelis Dimitriou and I am a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I have seen the change, both personally and with clients, that counselling therapy can bring and I am passionate about how it can help people change and live fuller and happier lives and how it can make the difference from surviving to thriving.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling awarded by the Psychosynthesis Trust in London and accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).
I have worked with clients experiencing a range of issues including: depression, self-esteem, anxiety and stress, addictions, sex and sexuality, bereavement, panic attacks, unresolved trauma, toxic shame, family and relationship concerns, career and life choices, and questions of spirituality and meaning to name a few.
There is no typical Counselling session and I am guided by you on what is explored and how we approach it. I will be myself and honest with you and foster a relationship and a space where you can feel able to create what you wish for yourself and your life.
